I have to admit - currently, this is by far my favorite wine cellar in Napa and Sonoma. Of course there are tons and tons, and what seems endless wineries, cellars, and vineyards, in Napa Valley and Sonoma, but out of all the ones I have visited (about ten) in the area - Thumbprint is #1 on my list. This came recommended from the D'Argenzio Winery, and I'm so glad they recommended it!
The service wasn't bad, but it also wasn't as good or amazing as other wineries I've visited. So why do I like this place so much? This place sold me purely from their wines! Above is a list of the 6 different wines I sampled at Thumbprint, and I loved each and everyone of them. They all tasted great. Before Thumbprint, I have yet been to a winery / cellar where I liked each and every tasting they poured, but I can now say I have after going to Thumbprint. All the whites and reds tasted wonderful. To be honest, I was because I didn't expect it from a normal looking cellar at all. Ryan and I have gone to plenty of wineries together, and he agreed that this one has the best wines out of all the ones we've visited. So, it's not just me, guys! A second source has agreed too. :)
At the end of our tasting, I had to make a tough decision between which bottle I want to take back with me. Although I really enjoyed all the wines I had from here, Ryan had already graciously bought me two bottles of wine from a different winery earlier as an early birthday present, so - one bottle from Thumbprint would be plenty! Although, I absolutely love reds and wanted to take a red back with me, the white Viognier was just so fascinating and interestingly tasting, in a good way, that I chose that bad boy instead of other ones. It was not your normal typical white, but instead it had different tannins in an intriguing way.
Since I knew I'd be moving to Hong Kong, I asked them if they could ship internationally, but... they said no. =\ Oh wells. No problemo. I'll be back for you, Thumbprint! When I live in the states again, I'll be sure to join your club and get your delicious tasting wines shipped me to multiple times a year. ;D
Value: I just looked at the cost of the wine tasting because I didn't remember how much we paid, and boy is this place worth it. WORTH EVERY PENNY! The tasting super cheap for such yummy quality wine. Go try it out, now! Try everything, all of it! :)
